Jul 1st 2015 Surfing for GNC
Some commercial producers called me up wanting me to shoot epic surf footage for a national spot for a vitamin company. New York was flat as a bathtub, were they open to sending me somewhere with better waves? A spin of the globe on Surfline, looking for the purple blobs that indicate big storms, and three days later I’m on a plane to El Salvador with a RED Epic, water housing, Argentinian surf buddy, and a pair of swim fins. 3 days of swimming in up to 10 foot waves gave us the footage we were after.
Turns out wasn’t only epic footage I came home with…also brought a crazy staph infection after chafing my ankles from days of kicking in fins. Next thing I know, I’m in a hospital on IV antibiotics with angry red streaks climbing up my legs. If I’d blown it off another day or two I would have been looking at amputation. Anything for the shot?
Apr 5th 2015 The Big Takedown
Was DP on this episode of “American Takedown”. Detectives had old samples of DNA tested for matches to build a case against a serial rapist, and arrest teams went in for the takedown with us along the whole way. Two FS7’s, an A7s on a Ronin and a bag full of GoPros got us excellent coverage of the whole process. I work hard to get editors lots of coverage, and in this case they used it all which allowed a nice fast paced edit. Program aired on A&E.
Feb 18th 2015 Advent
Here’s a short film that I shot for writer/director Chance Muehleck in 2013 that is just now being released to the wilds. It’s a basically a 10 minute slice of a feature about a young man who cons his way into a family whose child went missing some years before. It’s based on a true story.
