Carter documentary
Just finished a shoot this week for Jonathan Demme’s new documentary on Jimmy Carter, “Man From Plains”. He brought Middle Eastern musicians together with American folk artists in a midtown recording studio to create an original soundtrack, and I was hired to light and shoot it for the DVD bonus features. It was a big deal for me because I’ve been a fan of Demme’s ever since seeing “Stop Making Sense” when I was 16.
I was fortunate to get some of my favorite crew including gaffer Marshall Coles (a talented shooter in his own right) as well as Demme’s long time camera operator Tony Jannelli.
The shoot went beautifully, the musicians created some amazing music, and Jonathan was a pleasure to work with. I’ll post some clips when I get them!
